But I don’t set much stock in things
Beyond the weather and the certainties of living and dying:
The rest is optional.
-- John Ashbery, “Houseboat Days"
freshly steamed buns. black sesame and corn. i love these, so simple but so good. served with black tea for rainy mornings. the smell filled the air and it reminded me of old bakeries, the good ones that last ten to twenty to fifty years. the ones that never fail to deliver fresh croissants and pandan rolls and sugary doughnuts by 8am, even on sundays.
these are eight of the many things i'm grateful for today. fresh sesame buns. black tea. the rain. old bakeries. croissants, rolls. plain good old-fashioned doughnuts. 8am.
